Description
The .44 was a more ambitious project for the Overmare Studio's Fallout Equestria and one I took on with none other than the talented MrJimmy7, mrjimmy7.deviantart.com/. Where I created the high and low poly assets, MrJimmy took care of the final touches to the model, the UVs and brought the weapon to life with the textures and materials.
This revolver is also the basis for the more iconic Lil Mac which you can find on MrJimmy's page: mrjimmy7.deviantart.com/art/Li…
Just like with the TV set I intended to use Rhino 3D 5 to be able to create a fast and detailed model which could quickly be adjusted to the requirements of the design team where necessary. Unfortunately with this model the transition from nurbs to polygons became a significant issue with surfaces translating to polygons that didn't line up, or even containing obvious gaps in between faces. As such this model was essentially built a second time in a maya 2015, 30 day trial, and ended up at around 4400 polys. The high poly conversion wasn't useful for more than baking the normalmap. Future models containing more than simply geometric shapes will as such be built in maya exclusively, rather than an attempt through Rhino, most likely.
Both the .44 as well as Lil Mac are featured in the following video displaying a lot of Fallout Equestria's great assets in the new graphics engine: www.youtube.com/watch?v=sE__0T…
